EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 2018 A SITE VISIT WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE AN ADOPTION CAN BE APPROVED. SUITABILITY IS OUR PRIME CONSIDERATION IN PLACING A HORSE AND THIS CANNOT BE DETERMINED UNLESS WE CAN OBSERVE THE POTENTIAL ADOPTER'S INTERACTION WITH THE HORSE.
You are welcome to learn about our adoption process and how to apply for consideration. All information required on the Adoption Application, and terms stated on the Adoption Agreement and Waiver of Liability forms are designed to safeguard the horse's welfare should an adoption take place. Fees are posted with individual horses. All horses come UTD on vet work and farrier.
Please request an adoption application by email on our CONTACT page. If you do not have email access, a request can be made by a brief phone message clearly stating your name and mailing address including zip code.. A two-page non-binding adoption application will be mailed or emailed to you upon request so that we can learn about how you would keep and use one of our horses. WE REQUIRE AN APPLICATION BEFORE PUTTING OUR TIME AND EFFORT INTO CONSIDERING A MATCH. If you would like to have an application on file but do not see a horse that appears to meet your needs at this time or you see a horse of interest who is not yet ready for adoption, request an application on our Contact page and one will be emailed to you. We encourage you to follow our horses on the facebook page Solitude Morgan Rescue as well as our website updates. All things being equal, approval to a forever home is first based on suitability and a site visit allows our Morgans to choose you.
Reference checking is the final step in your application approval once a match has been found. Once approved you will be given an Adoption Agreement and a Waiver of Liability form. They should be read carefully to understand the terms that will apply if you adopt a Solitude horse. The Adoption Agreement is for the protection of the horse so that it will not be in an at risk situation in the future.
Many of our horses have been rescued from slaughter-bound situations. Kill buyers can appear at any auction or horse facility where they believe they can find cheap horses for this purpose. They sometimes pose as good-hearted folks, even bring the wife and kids, to deceive a seller or adoption facility. It is for this reason that Solitude Farm Morgan Horse Rescue requests that you visit our facility and provide us with detailed information on the home you would provide.
Please call our barn manager at 540-395-4805 between 8-1 Monday-Friday, leave a message or fill out our contact form.
